Bill Schmalfeldt is a proud product of a solid North Dakota public school education, and he expects no one will hold that against him.
Bill did his first professional radio show on January 17, 1977, while serving as a Navy Hospital Corpsman at Camp Lejeune, NC. Much has changed since that time, but Bill’s love of radio broadcasting burns brighter than ever.
After a broadcast career that took him from small and medium market stations in Mississippi, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois and California, Bill was one of the original program directors at XM Satellite Radio when the service launched in 2001. After XM and Sirius merged, Bill went to work for the federal government as a writer/podcaster with the National Institutes of Health and the USDA. Bill retired from the government in 2011 but, at length, found himself tired of retirement. This explains why Bill and his charming and ever-forgiving fiancé, Diane, have made the jump from sunny and swampy Myrtle Beach, SC, to the brisk and hearty climes of Havre.
You can hear Bill weekday mornings from 6-10 am on QX92, as well as on Tradio, newscasts, commercial production, and whatever else needs doing around New Media Broadcasters “.
